Shakti Sthal Tour, New Delhi

Shakti Sthal Delhi is a samadhi of Indira Gandhi who was known for her iron handed approach and the “Operation Blue Star” which defamed her and lead to her untimely death. The country has seen her behaviour during the emergency when she too the highhandedness to a bigger level by putting all the national leaders into prison and curbing the freedom of Print media. The country anyhow tolerated her in the name of the legacy which she carried and ultimately her own bodyguards killed her after which she got cremated at the same place where Shakti Sthal lies and now a stone has been erected in her honour.

The Shakti sthal is opened all day and the entry is free which is best visited between 0500 hours and 1930 hours from months of April to September along with 0530 hours and 1900 hours from the month of October to March. The parking facilities available for the visitors and they can hire local taxis or with auto rickshaw along with the Metro rail facility with nearest one at Kashmiri Gate metro station. Unfortunately, the name of Indira Gandhi is not called with respect in-spite of her achievements in various war with Pakistan and liberation of Bangladesh.

Shakti Sthal is a memorial which is dedicated to Mrs. Indira Priyadarshini Gandhi, Prime Minister of India. Indira Gandhi was cremated here in Nov 1984. Shakti Sthal is spread in 45 acres area land which is just near of the Jawaharlal Nehru and Mahatma Gandhi Samadhi (memorials). The Shakti Sthal memorial was built in 1984. Indira Gandhi was 3rd Prime Minister of India which served services as Prime Minister from 24 January 1966 to 24 March 1977 and 14 January 1980 to 31 October 1984. Indira Gandhi is also called iron lady in India. Indira Gandhi was also first lady prime minister of the India and second longest serve as Prime Minister of India. She was daughter of the Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru.
