National Museum of Natural History

National History Museum, Delhi is a museum which keeps it focus on nature and was conceptualized in 1972 and 1978 with the museum and it focuses under Ministry of Environment and Forests within the Government of India. The museum is situated on Barakhamba at Tansen Marg with the nearest Metro at Barakhamba Road and the NMNH’s mission which was created in 1972 and with the commemoration of 25th year of Indian Independence it was promoted to create environmental awareness. The early morning of 26 April 2016 a fire broke out at the museum and the entire collection got destroyed and the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Since, then there is no thought of restoration along with the earlier focus on India’s plants along with animals and mineral wealth and were divided into the main exhibit galleries. The museum also featured a discover room along with specific exhibits which included a sauropod fossil with the collection of bird eggs which included those of Ostrich and the long-billed vulture. The specific exhibits with extensive collection of films on wildlife along with ecology and conservation of nature with dinosaur fossils along with mounted animals and the stuffed animals as a part of museum collection.

Natural History museum was established in 1972 by Indra Gandhi former Prime Minister. This museum is working under the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India.

****Current now, this museum's all collections destroyed by fire on 26 April 2016.
