Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib, New Delhi

The Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib is a historic Gurdwara near Parliament house in New Delhi. It was built in 1783 and his brief stay in Delhi it led to construction of several Sikh religious shrines within the city. The Gurdwara is made at the site where Lakhi Sarai Banjara and his son Bhai Naghaya burnt their own house to cremate body of Shri Guru Tegh Bahadur sahib who was born on 11 November 1675. The Gurudwara Rakabganj Sahib is also home to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee and is planning to build a memorial to the Sikhs killed during the 1984 Anti- Sikh Genocide at the site.

The Rakab Ganj is an important historic Gurdwara in Delhi and lies at the exact spot where Dhan Guru Tegh Bahadur’s headless body was cremated which awakened the consciousness of the masses. The Ninth Guru volunteer the youth after the tragic death and the dedicated companions took a place called Anandpur Sahib away from Sis Ganj, Chandni Chowk on November 11, 1675 and the modern building is now converted as a magnificent Gurdwara on the Pant road in New Delhi facing Parliament house with also helping the Muslim community to build Mosques in the atrocities done by them on Muslim population during the Mughal rule.

The Gurdwara Rakab Ganj Sahib is located near of the Parliament House and also the headquarter of the Delhi state Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. This Gurdwara was constructed by Baghel Singh between the periods 1730 to 1803 when permissioned by Mughal emperor Shah Alam II. This sport is famous for cremated the body of the Guru Tegh Bahadur by Lakhi Shah Banjara.
